My New Palette

I have recently written about my new watercolors. They are a very compact set, which is good for portability. The number of colors though is limited, and the color mixing space is small. Thus I am thinking of getting some additional colors. I ordered a new mixing palette so that I would have more room to mix my colors. Having enough mixing room is especially important when you have few colors. Yesterday afternoon I cleaned my new brushes. They had arrived with an adhesive coating on them (glue) to protect the bristles. So I washed off the adhesive yesterday and then left the brushes to air dry on a flat surface all afternoon. Below are some photos of my new palette.

Little by little, I am edging closer to jumping in that swimming pool and starting to paint again. It’s a little scary for me to paint after 40 plus years! :) I think I would have more confidence in my ability to paint if I had had more instruction. I had a painting class years ago but had very little feedback (hardly any). As a result, I had a great deal of freedom to try and figure things out on my own. On the other hand, it would be nice if I had some guidelines and some idea of what I am doing wrong and what I am doing right.
