A Memorial Church Service and a First Speech
Today, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday, there was a lovely memorial service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England. This was not the official funeral service but another opportunity to pay tribute to the Queen. There were musical selections as well as fitting remarks by the clergywoman. My favorite part was seeing and hearing the lone bagpiper, who piped his way down the church’s aisle. I was unfamiliar with the song he played but it was very moving. This service also included the first official rendition of ”God Save the King.”
Today also Prince Charles’ (now King Charles III) first speech to his subjects. He made kind remarks about his mother, thanked her, and promised that he would carry on in her footsteps.
Tomorrow he will be proclaimed officially as King Charles III.
